Cheung Hing Restaurant
Located at 245 El Camino Real, Millbrae, CA 94030, Cheung Hing Restaurant is an extension of the renowned Cheung Hing Noriega in San Francisco. Serving the Millbrae community for several years, this establishment has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, especially those traveling to and from San Francisco International Airport (SFO). With its classic Hong Kong-style cafeteria food and a wide range of BBQ options, Cheung Hing Restaurant offers a dining experience that transports customers straight to the heart of traditional Chinese comfort food.
Cheung Hing Restaurant: A Destination for Authentic Hong Kong BBQ
One of the standout features of Cheung Hing Restaurant is its Hong Kong BBQ offerings. Patrons rave about the succulent Chasu (BBQ pork), roast duck, and roast pork, which are prepared fresh daily. The smoky aroma of BBQ meats fills the air as soon as you enter, and the sight of glistening ducks hanging by the window is enough to draw in any passerby. The restaurant’s BBQ selection is ideal for those craving authentic flavors at reasonable prices. The duck is often praised as a must-try, delivering crispy skin and tender meat, though some may find the price for a whole duck a bit steep.
The menu also features BBQ pork, which receives mixed reviews, but the roasted pork with its crispy crackling often wins over diners looking for something more indulgent. Pairing these BBQ meats with claypot rice or a simple bowl of steamed rice brings out the savory richness of the dishes, making them a satisfying meal option for both regulars and new visitors.
Experience Traditional Chinese Comfort Food at Cheung Hing Restaurant
For those seeking more than BBQ, Cheung Hing Restaurant boasts a variety of traditional Chinese dishes. The restaurant’s Seafood Wonton Noodles stand out as a customer favorite, offering a delicate balance of flavors and textures with plump shrimp wontons, savory broth, and perfectly cooked noodles. This dish is ideal for a quick bite after a long flight or during a leisurely lunch. Other popular dishes include the Pork Chop with Spicy Salt, which provides a crispy, salty kick that’s perfect for spice lovers.
Cheung Hing Restaurant also excels in providing claypot rice, a traditional Chinese comfort food known for its warm, hearty flavors. The claypot rice, served with toppings like Chinese sausage or BBQ meats, offers a satisfying crunch from the crispy rice at the bottom of the pot, making it a go-to dish for many patrons.

Reviews
I love this place! They have the best roast duck I've had in this area and I love coming back to get some. We also got their char siu and crispy pork and I loved them both! The crispy pork was very crispy at the top and tender at the bottom--it's one of the best I've had. We also got their egg drop soup and yang zhou fried rice and both were very tasty and flavorful. Service is fine. We got seated quickly. We waited a little to order but I think that was because they were busy on that day The inside is very much like a typical Chinese restaurant with round tables and white porcelain tea cups and plates. They have a stand in the back where they hang the roast ducks which I love because it feels very nostalgic of Chinatown. Parking: There are not a lot of parking options nearby. We luckily found some street parking
I thought I had been to every Cheung Hing Restaurant in the Bay Area when my wife sent me to this one in Millbrae. After my non-yelping wife had read all the reviews, she told me that I had to go to pick up one of their 2 item BBQ rice plates. She told me that the reviews were good, and that the butcher up front treated men better. I've been there several times to pick this up for lunch. I don't know if the meat man is sexist, but, he gives more than the places that I normally frequent in Southern California. I've had their roast pork, duck, and kui fei chicken. All of their meats that I've ordered are good. We've also called in our orders for chowmein and other dishes. Everything we've ordered have pretty good, except for their lobster yee mein, the lobster seemed to be kind of old, not fresh. It's a good place! I probably will continue coming here when I am working up north. Good place with reasonable prices.
Everything was delicious! The fried rice was flavorful and not too salty or greasy, the portions are very generous. The Malaysia chow fun was delicious! It had a nice little kick and the curry was not overpowering, and they were very generous with the shrimp. The braised mushroom with tofu was very good and I recommend getting this for a veggie, the tofu was soft and delicate with the sauce soaked in. The salt and Pepper pork chop was mediocre in my opinion, I've had a lot of better salt and pepper pork chops. It was not as crispy as I'd liked it and the flavor of the garlic and jalapeños didn't really penetrate the pork chops. The Peking spare ribs on the other hand were fire! I highly recommend getting this and eating it over rice. The meat was flavorful and tender, while the sauce was sweet, tangy, with light vinegar notes. Overall, this is a great restaurant for Chinese take out or even dining in.
Came to Cheung Hing for Chinese New Year Eve Dinner (aka Reunion Dinner) and thought Cheung Hing did a pretty good job overall! While it doesn't quite have the ambiance of its fancier neighbors in Millbrae, it still offered set menus for the occasion and the house was packed! We made a reservation for 7:30, but the staff was a bit behind on arrival and the party at our table also hadn't wrapped up yet. We were sat at 7:45 and immediately ordered the set menu we had previously looked at which features many of the traditional "must haves" leading up to New Years. Everything we had was pretty good - the ginger scallion chicken, beef with mixed mushrooms, and steamed bass were all table favorites. Cheung Hing did run out of a few items which affected dishes like the mixed cold platter which now featured more....unique animal parts than normal like stomach, hearts, gizzards, and pig ears (all still tasty). Additionally the lobster was tasty, but they really over battered the poor guy which led to some pasty parts. The e-fu noodles also had to sub in more enoki mushrooms and dried scallops because they had ran out of crab. I think while I could criticize them for some of these snafus, it was clear that even they didn't really expect this amount of people. They also told us and apologized up front so it wasn't like they were hiding things. All in all for the quality of food, Cheung Hing did its best and that's what I'll credit them for. They are not known to be a banquet hall but they delivered a tasty dinner for my family and it didn't require much effort from us. This allowed us to focus on having a good time and catching up with one another - the true purpose of this dinner.
Cheung Hing Restaurant is a famous Chinese restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area. This one in Millbrae is near San Francisco International Airport. I would love to revisit them because my last dinner here was long ago. The restaurant looks good from the outside. The dining room is clean and has adequate lighting. The parking lot is right next to the restaurant, and street parking is also available. I ordered the Hong Kong style seafood pan fried noodles. It was okay! I have better pan fried noodles before. I'll try something else next time when I am here again! The service was comparable to that of most Chinese restaurants. The waitpersons were polite and fast. I enjoyed my dinner.
